ABOUT THE BAND

The five-part acoustic band Copper Wren has been a long time in the making. Born in Tucson, Arizona, sisters Ava, Angel, and Alivea Addleman have sung together all their lives, visiting rest homes weekly, leading worship services at their church, and sharing beautiful three-part harmony arrangements with a multitude of people throughout the years.
The violin and cello duo Will and Lee MacDonald have spent a good part of their young lives learning to play Old Time Fiddle, Bluegrass, Gypsy Jazz, and classical styles. From Texas to Idaho, brothers Will and Lee continue to enjoy the wealth and variety of America’s musical traditions, learning from some of best and most generous musicians alive.
Although these talented young people have known each other for most of their lives, even collaborating in the past, it was not until 2017 that they decided to put the band "Copper Wren" together for a band contest held in Payson, Arizona, in conjunction with the Arizona State Old-time Fiddle Contest. They won the contest, and have been inspired to delve into a variety of old music, striving to bring the music alive in a unique and compelling way.
Copper Wren performs at a variety of local venues including the UA Festival of Books, EXO Roast Co., The Tucson Folk Festival, San Cruz River Farmer’s Market, Iron Horse Fabricators, Cartel Coffee Lab, La Cocina, and many more.
